Frequent Asked Questions

Why should I register and do reviews?

To be part of the largest Chilean community of lovers of gastronomy. Here you can share your experiences and benefit of the comments posted by other users. The aim of our site is to help our users make the right choice when dining out.

When I write my review?

As soon as possible! This way your experience is fresh and you can include more details in your review. However, if you’ve had a bad experience, give it a couple of days before reviewing so you can put things in perspective (if the waiter was rude, but the food was good, it’s not fair to give the food a low rating because of the server or vice versa).

Are there rules or guidelines for writing the reviews?

Write details. If the food is spectacular, explain why. If the food was only fair, also explain why. The same with the environment, service and so on. The best reviews tend to be personal and experimental, and offer a suggestion or two about the special qualities that makes the restaurant worthy to visit.

Be fair with your comments. If you go to a restaurant with a style of food you have not tried before and it was not to your liking, do not give a bad review to the restaurant. It’s better if you not you review it. It’s not the fault of the restaurant that its style of food was not suitable to your taste. Base your review in constructive criticisms and recommendations, rather than complaints and negative reviews.

How does the rating system works?

The assessment includes 3 categories: Food, Service and Environment. Each will have a score of 1 to 5, with 1 being the lowest and 5 the highest. The scores will be averaged out to be always calculated downward.
The price of the restaurants is obtained from the sum of an appetizer, a main course and a soft drink per person. The price given by users will be averaged and an annual inflation rate in Chile will be applied.
Our way of rating is "democratic". We provide users a website in which they are the real customers, the ones that rate the restaurants. We don’t influence in the rating granted, except in the non-publication or editing of comments that are insulting or offensive, or use inappropriate expressions. Initially a restaurant requires a minimum of 6 ratings for inclusion in the ranking.

Why was my review rejected?

Degusta Chile prohibits the use of offensive terms that attempt towards morality and decency. We won’t accept comments of complaints (whether on hygiene, sanitation or tax) or comments that mention the names of individuals or names of other restaurants besides the one is commenting.

Degusta allows comments regarding negative experiences, however, the comments are based primarily on describing a bad experience do not add value to other users. For example, if you had a bad experience with the service, you can say restaurant service is slow and inefficient and that the waiter took longer than 45 minutes to take the order. We understand that having your details regarding bad experience help, but we don’t want Degusta to become a place in which people only write their complaints of bad experiences, there are other websites for this. Degusta Chile reserves the right to not publish, edit or delete those comments that violate the understanding above. For more details see our Terms and Conditions.

I already voted and my review hasn’t appeared, why?

Comments are reviewed one by one so the process can take several hours. We ask for your patience. We do this to prevent the publication of comments out of place.

A restaurant is closed in the list!

We have over 200 restaurants in our database and this requires a sustained effort. Let us know if a restaurant has been renamed, closed or open their doors so we can immediately update the database.
